"There is not a bad seat here"

Includes spoken dialogue, not just singing

First opera staged in Berlin after WWII

Beethoven's only opera is a love story with a revolutionary streak: Leonore disguises herself as a prison guard to free her husband, culminating in a thunderous hymn to liberty. The "Prisoners' Chorus" alone is worth the ticket.
