KRS‑One, born Lawrence Kris Parker, is an American rapper from the Bronx who rose to prominence in the mid‑1980s as a founding member of Boogie Down Productions. After the group’s split, he launched a solo career that has produced influential albums such as *By All Means Necessary* and *Return of the Boom Bap*, and he is known for politically charged tracks like “Sound of da Police.” He continues to perform live, using concerts as a platform for social activism and education.
