The Naghash Ensemble
Armenian classical/world music ensemble, medieval poetry, duduk, oud, dhol
Headliner
The Naghash Ensemble, led by Armenian‑American composer John Hodian, performs original compositions based on medieval Armenian mystic poetry. The group features three sopranos (Hasmik Baghdasaryan, Tatevik Movsesyan, Shahane Zalyan), an alto (Arpine Ter‑Petrosyan), and instrumentalists playing duduk (Harutyun Chkolyan), oud (Aramayis Nikoghosyan), dhol (Tigran Hovhannisyan) and piano (John Hodian). Their sound blends ancient Armenian sacred texts with contemporary classical, folk, and post‑minimalist elements, creating a deeply moving, ethereal experience.
