May Day and the Commons

East Village

Historian Peter Linebaugh traces May Day from 17th-century colonial dances to the 1886 Haymarket riots, weaving together labor history and today's climate crises in Cooper Union's legendary Great Hall. Free and open to all, but arrive early: seats fill fast and those pillars are notorious for blocking sightlines.
