Activity Description

This is an eleventh retrospective screening featuring various peculiar examples of puppet films from the 1930s through the 1950s+. The films are presented in glorious 16mm, with prints hand-selected from Tommy José Stathes's personal archive. The event explores the resurgence of puppetry in filmmaking during the first half of the 20th century, including stop-motion films and more straightforward films featuring live marionettes and hand puppet performances. The presentation will be followed by a live Q&A session with Stathes.
