Activity Description

"Luger" is the debut film by Bruno Martín, a high-tension buddy movie set in the fictional industrial estate Santos 117. The story follows Rafa (David Sainz) and Toni (Mario Mayo), two hustlers hired by Ángela (Ana Turpin), a morally ambiguous lawyer, to retrieve a stolen car. The task spirals out of control when they discover a safe with a WWII relic in the trunk, leading to violence, impossible decisions, and dangerous alliances in working-class Spain.

Shot on the outskirts of Madrid, the film features an aesthetic that draws from 80s and 90s action cinema and industrial culture. Its staging includes references to the works of Walter Hill, Antoine Fuqua, and Quentin Tarantino, as well as influences from late 80s video games like Double Dragon, Final Fight, and Tough Turf.

"Luger" has been screened at international fantastic film festivals, including its world premiere at Fantastic Fest (Austin, Texas), European premiere at Strasbourg European Fantastic Film Festival, and national premiere at the Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia. It has received awards such as the Grand Prix Crossovers in Strasbourg and multiple awards at the Isla Calavera Festival, including Best Feature Film, Audience Award, Best Direction, Best Screenplay, and Best Performance (ex aequo) for David Sainz and Mario Mayo.
