• Activity Description: This illustrated lecture, part of the M R Srinivasan Memorial Lecture series, features Benoy K. Behl. He will discuss his groundbreaking work in photographing ancient Indian murals, particularly those found in the Ajanta Caves and other ancient temples. Behl developed a low-light photography technique that revealed a continuous lineage of Indian painting from ancient times through the medieval period, challenging previous beliefs about the discontinuity of Indian art traditions. His presentation will trace this lineage with images, arguing that India's painting tradition is among the greatest in art history. The lecture will conclude with a Q&A session. The event also commemorates Dr. M.R. Srinivasan, a key figure in India's nuclear power program.
