This event is an intimate conversation between artist, designer, and educator Marianetta Porter and guest curator Juana Williams. Drawing from African American histories and experiences, Porter's work explores absence as an active force shaping the present. She uses everyday objects like tea towels, ironing boards, church fans, paper fragments, and found materials to show how memory resides in the body and ordinary things, making visible traces of lives and experiences that might otherwise be erased. The conversation will conclude with an audience Q&A.
