Gary Kamiya will provide a narrative journey through key periods such as the Gold Rush, the Barbary Coast, the Gilded Age, the 1906 devastation and rebirth, and the rise of the Beats and hippies. The lecture aims to reveal how the city's past shapes its current identity, highlighting its restlessness, contradictions, and magnetism.
