Jardins des Lumières, 1750-1800
June 12 at 12pm
Step into the wilder side of Versailles. This exhibition traces how 18th-century gardens broke free from rigid French symmetry, embracing winding paths, grottos, and fantasy follies inspired by English and Chinese ideals. Nearly 160 paintings, furniture pieces, and costumes reveal how nature became a language for emotion and Enlightenment philosophy, with rare works by Hubert Robert and a reunited Fragonard triptych you won't see elsewhere.
