Activity Description
"Pomme d’amour (Olma Djon)" is a 2019 fiction film from France and Kazakhstan. The story follows Bolot, a father struggling to communicate with his daughter Sholpan, who has become mute due to family traumas. In his despair, he is visited by a female shaman who charms him with a lullaby his mother once sang. Overwhelmed, Bolot follows her voice into a snow-covered apple orchard – his secret garden, frozen for years. Guided by the shaman's call, Bolot journeys through his unconscious, encountering his ancestors and finally his mother, who awaits him under the apple tree. The film has a runtime of 1 hour and 12 minutes, is in color, and features Dolby Digital 5.1 sound.
The special screening on Wednesday, March 4, will be followed by a debate with the film's director, Victoria Yakubov.
