Activity Description
The Espace familles at the Musée de l'Orangerie is a dedicated area for children aged 0 to 12 and accompanying adults. It offers a sensory and creative discovery of the museum's collection, designed to introduce young visitors to art through experimentation, manipulation, and play. The space is inspired by Claude Monet's Water Lilies and his garden in Giverny, featuring aquatic motifs such as lily pad-shaped tables, a floor with textures mimicking ripples, and tiered seating with wave-patterned cushions.
The area provides various activity islands for different ages, starting from 2 and 5 years old, allowing families to explore Monet's Water Lilies and selected works from the Orangerie collection focusing on the human figure through observation, touch, and sound.
Activities include:
- Manipulation activities: Hands-on experiences related to the artworks.
- Reading corner: A selection of fun and educational resources about the Orangerie collection.
- Sound alcoves: Immerse yourself in the museum's works through audio podcasts ("Promenades imaginaires") and other sound creations.
- Workshops: Create paper water lilies using materials designed by the duo Zim&Zou.
Suitability
Suitable for children aged 0 to 12 and accompanying adults. The space is designed to cater to various family needs, including playing, resting, drawing, reading, and listening to stories, for all ages from babies to teenagers.
