"Saturday Afternoon Cartoons" is a theatrical showcase of early and classic animated cartoons from the personal 16mm film archives of historian Tommy José Stathes. This selection, titled "Dynamic Duos," features vintage animated shorts highlighting character team-ups. The program includes tales such as an ex-flapper organizing a house party, a cartoon cat assisting with an egg farm, birds invading a farmer’s homestead, a cat and mouse clash at the circus, and bachelors failing at babysitting. The shorts span the 1920s through the 1950s and feature classic characters like Porky Pig and Daffy Duck, Betty Boop and Grampy, Mutt and Jeff, the original human Tom and Jerry, Herman and Katnip, Heckle and Jeckle, Alice and Julius, and Tweety and Sylvester.
