Taiwanese American artist Angela Chen explores the paradox of after-school tutoring centers: spaces of both discipline and care, assimilation and cultural preservation. Through photographs, collage, and archival documents, she traces her family's buxiban business in the San Gabriel Valley amid a history of anti-Asian discrimination.
