Activity Description

The Hellenic Film Society presents a screening of two films. "TAKIS" is a 62-minute documentary making its NY Premiere, detailing the inspiring journey of a former nightclub owner who dedicated himself to rescuing stray dogs in Crete. His sanctuary, which began with a few abandoned dogs, now cares for over 400. The film highlights how Takis has changed local perspectives and garnered international support for addressing Greece's stray dog crisis. An audience Q&A with members of the production team will follow the feature film.

Prior to "TAKIS," a short film titled "GREENHOUSE" will be shown. This 18-minute film from 2023 follows a hardworking young Albanian immigrant as he navigates challenges to achieve his dream of a professional soccer career.
