The opening night of CROSSROADS summons Harry Smith's legendary Heaven and Earth Magic, a primitively hypnotic stop-motion occult fever dream from 1957–1962. Industrial noise composer JG Thirlwell performs a live, surround-sound score on electronics, triggered samples, and theremin. The program opens with Thirlwell's own 2018 film, Sonder.
