This ain't your regular government building. San Francisco City Hall's soaring 23.5-karat gold dome rivals St. Peter's Basilica in height, while the sweeping marble staircase and pink Tennessee marble rotunda feel more palace than paperwork. Wander the Beaux-Arts corridors, peek at the preserved statue head from the 1906 earthquake, or just soak up the cinematic grandeur.
