A colonial salt tax hedge becomes a site of magic and resistance in this immersive three-channel video installation. Artists Hylozoic/Desires reimagine the 2,400-mile "Great Hedge of India" through the divinations of Mayalee, a salt-wage courtesan who transforms an instrument of imperial control into a tool of prophecy and power.
